ITW CHARITY LUNCHEONS
International Thriller Writers has announced plans for luncheons featuring thriller writers and benefiting literacy. "Brunch & Bullets", the first of which will take place in Los Angeles, on Saturday, March 17 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, California. The second event is set for May 5 in Greenwich, Connecticut. Both events will benefit RIF, "Reading is Fundamental".
A number of well-known thriller authors will be on hand for the LA event including Gayle Lynds, David Morrell, Sandra Brown, David Dun, Heather Graham, Gregg Hurwitz, John Lescroart, Christopher Reich, Christopher Rice, Nancy Taylor Rosenberg and more. An ITW author will sit at each table "rotating through the course of the program." There will be author interviews, performances and the announcement of the 2007 ITW Thriller Award nominees. After lunch, there will be an all-group book signing.
The registration fee includes lunch which begins at noon, program and a voucher for a freehardcover book. ITW will donate 25% of the net proceeds to a RIF-related fund.
Admission is $150 ($175 at the door) for non-ITW members; ITW Members pay $135 ($150 at the door). There are reservations available for full tables. Some local LA bookstores will carry registration at a 20% discount. To register online, go to www.regonline.com/brunch.

New Edgar website
MWA has announced the creation of www.TheEdgars.com, for complete information about the Edgar Awards.
The MWA website has long provided a database for completists and interested readers, not only providing search facilities for winners but for nominees in each category of the Edgar Allen Poe award since its inception. The new website will be separate from the organization's website. The new site will have information on the 2007 nominees, on the annual awards event, and the accompanying symposium.

BARBARA SERANELLA DIES
Deadline News is very sorry to report the death of author Barbara Seranella who died of end-stage liver disease while waiting to be strong enough for a new liver transplant. Seranella, a well-liked author who attended conventions and received numerous honors for her work featuring Miranda "Munch" Mancini, died at the age of fifty on January 21, 2007.
Her most recent short story "Misdirection" had won the Anthony Award at Bouchercon and Barbara herself had been named to receive the first Dennis Lynds Award for Social Consciousness in Crime Fiction.
Barbara's life was celebrated recently at a gathering at Left Coast Crime and there will be a gathering in her honor on February 18 sponsored by the Orange County Sisters In Crime. For more information, see barbaraseranella.com. She will be deeply missed.
