SF WRITING CONFERENCE AND MYSTERY WRITING CONTEST
The 2007 San Francisco Writers Conference is set for February 16 - 18, 2007 at the Mark Hopkins Hotel. Speakers attending will include authors and professionals in the field of publishing and film, from publicists to editors and agents. The registration fee of $495.00 includes readings and booksignings, attendance at workshops and other sessions, parties and networking. There are seveeral events featuring mystery and crime writers focusing on the genre, including presentations about forensics, thrillers as well as general workshops and presentations on topics ranging from what's hot to how to get published, what editors do, and promotion.
A special feature of the 2007 event is the "Chief Al Nelder Writng Prize Contest" sponsored by Komenar Publishing. There is no fee to enter the contest; entries must be the "first 25 pages of a completed, unpublished novel" by an unpublished writer who does not have representation as a fiction writer. The novel should be a literary mystery, thriller or crime novel.
