ELLERY QUEEN TO OFFER SPECIAL KATRINA ISSUE

Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine has announced a special New Orleans-themed issue due on the newsstands in early September, recognizing the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The issue will feature native writers and artists from New Orleans.

The issue, which actually bears a November publication date, will offer work celebrating New Orleans’ rich ethnic and cultural diversity. It will feature short stories by a host of Big Easy names including John Edward Ames, O’Neil De Noux, Tony Dunbar, Tony Fennelly, Barbara Hambly, Greg Herren, Edward D. Hoch, Dick Lochte, William Dylan Powell, Sarah Shankman, and Julie Smith.

Ten of the issue’s authors, including poetry contributor James Sallis, hail from the beleaguered city, and everal lost homes or property as a result of Katrina's devastation. Artwork in the issue will feature several artists from the city as well.
Also included in the issue will be a book review column by Jon L. Breen, looking at the work of other notable New Orleans writers.

Dell Magazine, EQMM’s publisher, is to be praised for donating all advertising for this special issue to organizations with rebuilding or relief efforts including Bridge House, the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans, Covenant House, Habitat for Humanity, Reader to Reader, Inc., Save the Children, and the Volunteers of America.

The magazine's website provides links to all of the participating charities.
To order single copies of this special issue, you can visit their website at www.themysteryplace.com/eqmm/, or call toll free (1-800-220-7443).
