IAN RANKIN RECEIVES DIAMOND DAGGER AWARD FROM CWA
Britain's Crime Writers' Association has awarded its Cartier Diamond Dagger for 2005 to Ian Rankin OBE. This award, now in its 20th year, is given to "mark a lifetime's achievement in crime writing".
Rankin is the UK's number one best-selling crime writer, receiving numerous nominations and awards over the years, including awards from CWA and MWA (2004's Edgar for RESURRECTION MEN). Rankin is a past winner of the Chandler-Fulbright Award and was awarded the OBE in June of 2003.
Rankin will receive the award in London this May at a reception at the Savoy Hotel.

2005 HAMMETT AWARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED
The North American Branch of the International Association of Crime Writers has announced nominees for the annual HAMMETT PRIZE. The award is for "a work of literary excellence in the field of crime writing by a US or Canadian author".

The winner will be chosen by three distinguished outside judges and will be announced at Bouchercon, the World Mystery Convention, to be held this year over Labor Day Weekend in Chicago.

2005 GUMSHOE AWARDS ANNOUNCED
The Annual Gumshoe Awards, given by Mystery Ink, recognize the best achievements in crime fiction. This year's nominees were chosen from books published in 2004. The winners of the 4th annual awards are:
