DILYS AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED
Jasper Fforde's LOST IN A GOOD BOOK has won the annual Dilys Award for 2004.
The Dilys Award has been given annually since 1993 by the The Independent Mystery Booksellers Association to the mystery title of the year which the member booksellers have most enjoyed selling. The award is named in honor of Dilys Winn, the founder of the first specialty bookseller of mystery books in the United States. The award was given at Left Coast Crime 2004, held in Monterey, California from February 18-22.

Great Manhattan Mystery Conclave
October 1-3 will see a "golden celebration of the small town mystery" in Manhattan, Kansas. Events include programs and tours, the chance to enter your own small-town Manhattan mystery in a contest as well as a chance to be published in an anthology. Participants include Margaret Maron, Nancy Pickard, Jeanne Dams, the "Deadly Divas", Eve Sandstrom and Sara Hoskinson Frommer. The cost, if you register by March 31, is $150.00. Dilys Award Nominees announced
The Independent Mystery Booksellers Association has announced the 2004 nominees of The Dilys Award. The award recognizes the books chosen by members as the ones they most enjoyed selling in the past year. The award is in honor of Dilys Winn, founder of the first bookshop devoted to mysteries. The winner will be announced in Monterey at Left Coast Crime, February 19-22.

2004 Edgar Nominations announced
The Mystery Writers of America has announced the nominations for the Edgar Allan Poe Awards 2004, honoring the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction, television and film published or produced in 2003. The Edgar awards banquet will be held on April 29, 2004 in New York City.

NOTE: LOST LIGHT by Michael Connelly was originally one of the nominees. Mr. Connelly, who is currently the president of MWA, felt that it was inappropriate, given this title and responsibility, for him to have a book nominated for an Edgar and asked that his book be withdrawn from contention. The MWA Board reluctantly agreed and decided that because the book was eligible, but withdrawn, there would not be another book added, so there are only four books nominated for Best Novel.
