CWA Diamond Dagger winner announced
The Crime Writers' Association has awarded its Cartier Diamond Dagger for 2004 to the American writer, Lawrence Block. This award, given annually for nineteen years to mark a lifetime's achievement in crime writing. Previous winners has gone in the past to such notables as John Le Carre, P.D. James, Ruth Rendell and Colin Dexter.
Block most recently received a Grandmaster award from MWA. He'll be receiving the CWA honor in a ceremony in May in London

First SF Writers Conference
San Francisco Writers Conference to be held February 13-15, 2004 will include some mystery-related program featuring authors and editors. Participants include Kathleen Antrim, Cara Black, Penny Warner, Sharan Newman, D.P. Lyle, Aimee Liu and agent Kimberley Cameron.
Location: Sir Francis Drake Hotel, 450 Powell St., SF
Price: $445 until January 31, and $495 thereafter: includes continental breakfast and lunch.
