Barry Awards Announced

The Barry Awards, named after well-loved mystery fan Barry Gardner were presented this past weekend at Bouchercon. The Barry Awards were presented as follows:

Best Novel - CITY OF BONES, Michael Connelly

Best First Novel - IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER, Julia Spencer-Fleming

Best British Novel - THE WHITE ROAD, John Connolly

Best Paperback Original - COLD SILENCE, Danielle Girard

The Don Sandstrom Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement in Mystery Fandom was presented to Maggie Mary Mason.

Shamus Awards presented at Bouchercon

Private Eye Writers of America recently gave out their Shamus Awards for 2002 at Bouchercon.

Best P.I. Novel - BLACKWATER SOUND, James W. Hall (St. Martin's)

Best First P.I. Novel - THE DISTANCE, Eddie Muller (Scribner)

Best Paperback Original P.I. Novel - THE POISONED ROSE, D. Daniel Judson (Bantam)

Best P.I. Short Story - "The Second Coming", Terence Faherty (Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, 11/02)

The Eye, PWA's award for lifetime achievement, was presented to Sue Grafton.
